The Teacher of the Month for January at Kiddie Kare A’Kademie is one of our newest teachers, Ms. Karol Cabrera.
Ms. Karol joined Kiddie Kare in the fall of 2017. After teaching for two years in the Philippines she continued her lifelong goal of teaching in early childhood education by joining the outstanding team of teachers at Kiddie Kare A’Kademie in Pleasant Prairie.
In the Philippines, she was responsible for almost 400 students in first, second and third grades. She had five sections at each grade level.
At Kiddie Kare, teachers are able to provide more one-on-one experiences due to the low student-to-teacher ratio. Ms. Karol loves that aspect of teaching here. She feels she will be able to apply her education more effectively at Kiddie Kare and she can pay more attention to the needs of each individual student. She has a bachelor’s degree in education and a masters in special education.
“When I was in elementary school,” she said, “I had classmates with special needs. My teachers assigned me to shadow them and assist them.” She said that experience sparked her interest in working with kids who have special needs and also enables her to especially assist children in her classes at Kiddie Kare.
Like all of the teachers at Kiddie Kare, Ms. Karol has a deep love for the children entrusted to her care. “I love how they share their lives with me,” she said. “I love hearing their unending, random stories.” She also believes her students look to her as someone they can lean on with all of their questions and concerns.
Ms. Karol finds that being a positive influence on her students’ lives and helping children reach their maximum potential makes her job rewarding. “I enjoy being there to witness their joy when they achieve things they didn’t think possible,” she said.
Kiddie Kare parents view Ms. Karol as a caring and loving teacher. “All of our teachers care about the kids like they are their own,” she said. “We want only what is best for them. Kiddie Kare is home. For me, and for the students in my classes.”
